|MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:|| Miles Platts are a customer focussed, world-leading manufacturer of precision technical plastic mouldings in engineering polymers, supplying production facilities worldwide for 50 years.
In line with our growth plans, a vacancy for the full-time, internal position of ‘Technical Sales Engineer’ has arisen to support our manufacturing facilities in Blaby, Leicester. Reporting to the Sales Manager, the new role is crucial in supporting existing key customers & developing new business opportunities in the UK for our custom technical moulding capabilities.
Support of existing UK custom design customers, building long-term relationships- creating quotes, generation of new business and projects.
Identifying new business opportunities and new customers for the supply of precision technical mouldings.
With assistance from QA, design, production and tech sales support,
- handling quotes from start to finish, including costing, presenting to customers (which may include travel) and following up to conclusion.
- Project managing successful quotes, including APQP and team feasibility support for customers.
Technical sales support to customers as required.
Reporting of new business opportunities, providing contact data, assisting with marketing & forecasting sales.
Supporting the Sales Manager as required.
Customer satisfaction focussed with a positive attitude to achieving the company growth plans.
Self-motivated with a desire to grow within the role and Company. Dynamic and flexible approach to changing priorities. A ‘team player’ able to work with all departments.
Skills/ Qualifications Required
HNC/ Degree level qualified ideally within a mechanical/electro-mechanical engineering discipline.
Industry experience in a hands-on, Mechanical Engineering/ CAD/ Design/ Technical Sales role ideally gained in a manufacturing background, with customer contact experience as part of the sales process.
Office based so proximity to Blaby, Leicester.
Desirable to have knowledge of technical plastic injection moulding combined with electro-mechanical component assembly. Depending on COVID restrictions, an ability to travel to customers
This position would ideally suit an experienced, successful sales engineer or an engineer looking for a move into technical sales currently working within the UK manufacturing industry and ideally from within a technical plastic environment or a related position with industry knowledge.
Excellent interpersonal skills & clear communication skills- written & spoken English to a high standard. Good IT skills including Office Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Full-time position. Competitive remuneration depending upon experience including pension scheme, participation in company-wide bonus scheme, workwear and 25 days holiday.
