THE ROLE

Notpla is seeking a Films Extrusion/Polymer Scientist on a full-time basis. We are looking for someone with a strong technical background in extrusion, injection moulding, polymer processing and film forming with the ambition to disrupt the industry using natural materials in place of traditional polymers. This person will work alongside the research, development and engineering team within Notpla to identify and test new materials for Notpla film formulations to improve performance, reduce cost and enhance environmental qualities of our products. This role will be centered around prototyping new materials using extrusion and injection moulding.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Rapid prototyping of extruded films using in-house equipment
• Identifying, researching and testing new sources of natural ingredients
• Formulation development and enhancement
• Analysis and characterisation of film material prototypes
• Working with the development scale up team to translate lab scale formulations to the larger scale

Qualifications/experience required

REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years working in an industrial research environment within film development, polymer extrusion or polymer processing
• Degree in a relevant discipline e.g. Polymer Science, Polymer processing/engineering, Material Science, Chemistry
• Demonstrable experience working with extrusion technology or injection moulding
• Ambition to challenge traditional thinking around polymer processing through the development of natural polymeric materials
• Comfortable in the workshop/lab with a willingness to conduct practical research and testing
