Main responsibilities

Job Overview: Our client, a successful injection moulding manufacturer, has retained our services to search for Supervisor/ Process Technician to join their team.


  • As a Process Technician/Supervisor, you must have several years’ experience with setting, conditioning, maintenance & process optimisation of injection moulding machines working with a wide range of materials.
  • As a Process Technician/Supervisor, you will be expected to ensure the continuous running of the machine at the optimum cycle time to produce quality products.
  • The role of a Process Technician/Supervisor is to fulfil all aspects of machinery tool changes, from hanging the tool and securing the tool in the machine through to the use of programming software and setting up the robots to provide the optimum cycle time.

  • Responsible for all aspects of Health & Safety on the shopfloor.
  • Carry out machine safety checks as per required frequency prior to operator handover.
  • Responsible for end-to-end quality control of the manufacturing process.
  • Check works order is correct to raw materials GRN issued and expected quantity required to complete the run.
  • Setting of Tool and Machine for new Works Orders, in line with the Production Plan
  • Create Machine Setting guide at first off stage and hard copy remains with works order.
  • Follow the correct Start-up and Shut Down procedures of the injection moulding machines, ancillary equipment and plant.
  • Conditioning of material as defined by the quality pack/plan
  • Conducting inspections as defined in the Quality Plan
  • Ensuring Operatives are fully aware of what is expected of them
  • Ensuring Operatives are fully trained in processes and operations they work on
  • Ensuring Operatives follow requirements of the company's procedures and policies
  • Ensure that Quality Alerts are printed and shared with Operatives
  • Ensuring Operatives work in harmony and efficiently at all times
  • Provide Operative with all required ancillary equipment and PPE
  • Holding Operatives to account for the quality of their work and their conduct
  • Ensuring that Operatives report all the work they carry out (Production and Quality Bookings)
  • Conduct "Tool-Check", request Maintenance (if required) and move the tool to the correct location at the end of run.
  • Report all problems encountered during the shift via a formal handover process to the oncoming shift.
  • Carry out a handover with the previous shift ensuring all production issues are discussed and understood, all quality concerns are contained/handed over and the factory condition is safe, clean and to the expected standard.
  • Review human resources available on shift and notify any shortages against plan.
  • Machine safety checks are done every bolster change or once per week. Report safety failures to your manager immediately.
  • Conduct 1st off/Last Off quality checks and report these on the system
  • Conduct Patrol inspections as defined by the Quality Control Plans
  • Understand the process for non-conforming product and action accordingly.
  • Ensure all Paperwork and information is available and being used correctly by all Operatives
  • Carry out operator training and record on the system.
  • Ensure that any start-up or production scrap is reported and segregated
  • Brief the oncoming shift of the status of the production and conduct a walk through the factory.
  • Ensure the housekeeping standards are maintained to a high level and all gangways are clear of any obstruction.
  • For the last working shift of the week, shut down/isolate all machines and ensure the premises are safe and secure.

Qualifications/experience required

Experience & Qualifications (preferred but not essential):       

  • Holds an Injection moulding qualification equivalent to IMT 3 or above.
  • Multi skilling qualification advantageous.
  • Knowledge and experience of closures/plastic industry.
  • Good knowledge of injection moulds / tooling and injection moulding machinery
