Tantec equipment includes Atmospheric Plasma, Vacuum Plasma, Corona Treatment and Ozone Treatment systems for preparing, priming and pretreating materials for cleanliness, raising surface energy and changing the surface chemistry.

Using these technologies on plastic parts means that you have improved performance and repeatability for processes that rely on adhesion - this could be adhesive bonding, painting, coating, tape adhesion and print adhesion among many other processes.

Improving and preparing your material in this way opens up your production to new options, such as moving to water based products rather than solvent. This can be a huge environmental improvement and can also mean cost savings due to design and processing changes.

DETAILS OF PRODUCT RANGE

Tantec manufacture surface treatment systems, many of which are part of our standard range. We also manufacture custom systems which we have been producing since manufacturing began in 1974.

Atmospheric Plasma - Nozzle type devices used to treat small 10mm to medium 150mm areas, or inline with automation or for extrusion and profile lines.

Vacuum Plasma - Treatment systems that can prepare entire components, no need for tooling or jigs and highly flexible. Useful for complex mouldings or for those looking to treat a number of parts without the need for automation or complex work stations.

Corona Treatment - Best for flat materials such as webs, textiles, films, foils, sheets and boards. Also highly effective with high speed for specific area treatment such as medical device manufacturing.

Ozone Treatment - Internal cavity and void treatment for rotational mouldings and other parts with inaccessible areas. Treatment often used to improve flow and adhesion of filling materials and void fills.

Electrical Leak Detection - Utilising high voltage testing can identify micron sized holes and defects in polymer parts with 100% inline treatment possible at speeds of less than 1 second per part.

Surface Energy Testing - Dyne Pens and Dyne Inks are often used to identify part cleanliness and effectiveneess of treatment. Technical systems called Contact Angle and Force Tensiometers are also available and can be very useful for quality labs and research centres.

Tantec have been manufacturing surface treatment systems for industries around the world for more than 50 years which means we've worked with a lot of different problems and industries.

Our key specialty is this knowledge and history of applications - whether the solution is a standard off the shelf machine, or whether it's a custom built machine. We are happy to off simple systems for you to integrate in your own production, or we can build a full turn key treatment unit specific for your needs.

Our equipment finds itself most commonly in automotive and medical device manufacturers, but our customers range from single high performance parts for aero and motorsport applications; through to high volume card personalisation prior to printing.

 

DEVELOPMENT FACILITIES

Our Redditch, Worcestershire facility is shared with our contract treatment company; Ebble Manufacturing.

This gives us a great space for using production quality equipment either at full scale in the procution hall, or using the lab for test pieces.

Alongside the surface treatment machines we also have surface energy testing and adhesive test machines in our quality lab for testing before and after treatment.

Using Tantec and Ebble Manufacturing means you can be supported from single samples and learning abhout the technology, run production, feasability trials and scale production with Ebble and then move on to purchasing equipment for your own manufacturing site.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES PROVIDED

Our team are keen to work with customers at every stage of the surface treatment journey - starting with proving and explaing the technology, through to isntallation, training and ongoing service/ maintenance contact.

We also offer lab work such as contact angle and surface energy measuring as well as adhesive lap shear testing and dolly pull tests.

The factory here in Worcestershire is located centrally in the UK, close to the M42 and M5 for visits where you can learn more about the technology and get to know our team.
