Working with our client, an established injection moulding manufacturer, we are looking for a Development Manager to join their team in support of continued growth and investment in new equipment.

Company overview

  • This position will suit an experienced engineering professional with prior experience in the installation and commissioning of new Capital equipment
  • The successful Development Manager candidate will be an electrically biased Engineer with a strong appreciation of plastics manufacturing machinery and ancillary equipment
  • Fantastic opportunity for a skilled Engineer with supervisory experience to progress into a senior position focused on new equipment and plant improvement projects

Role responsibilities

  • In the role of Development Manager, you will be responsible for the safe installation of Capital equipment and site improvement projects
  • As Development Manager, you will lead the identification, evaluation, development and implementation of new equipment and processing technologies
  • Identify and specify new equipment, seeking out potential suppliers and gathering quotations
  • Lead feasibility studies and technical evaluations for new equipment
  • Working closely with suppliers on equipment design requirements/solutions
  • Liaise with suppliers and OEM’s to ensure technical and commercial alignment
  • Present to senior management the costs and timescales to realise a specific project
  • Manage projects from inception through to handover to production in terms of safety, cost, time and quality
  • Coordinate trials and validation of new machinery and equipment
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to embed new processes and standards
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering and operations teams on machinery and processing

Qualifications/experience required

  • Time served as an electrically biased Engineer qualified to HNC / HND level
  • Good working knowledge of Mechatronics, PLC Technology, Servo drives and Control systems
  • Good communication skills with the ability to manage suppliers and contractors
  • Experience in the safe installation and commissioning of  new equipment
  • Proven experience within plastics manufacturing
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience with robotics and automation
  • Understanding of health & safety requirements for industrial equipment
  • Leadership and people management skills
