Working alongside our client, a successful manufacturer of plastic packaging solutions, we are looking for a Product/Tool Designer to join their team and support continued business growth.

Company overview

  • Fantastic opportunity for a skilled Product & Tool Designer to join a forward-thinking business with a strong track record of investment in machinery, tooling and innovation
  • This position will suit an experienced CAD/CAM Designer with demonstrable experience in 3D modelling and product/tool design within a manufacturing environment
  • This role requires strong technical design capability, the ability to translate customer requirements into practical solutions, and a willingness to engage directly with customers when required

Role responsibilities

  • Design and develop products and associated tooling to support new and existing business
  • Produce detailed 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings using Fusion, SolidWorks or SolidCAM
  • Develop tooling concepts from initial brief through to production-ready designs
  • Generate and support CAM data where required for manufacturing processes
  • Work closely with production and commercial teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective
  • Attend customer meetings and occasionally travel to customer sites for project discussions and technical support
  • Support continuous improvement and modification of existing tools and products

Qualifications/experience required

  • Strong experience in 3D modelling within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Fusion, SolidWorks or SolidCAM (experience in at least one is essential)
  • Experience designing products and/or tooling
  • Good understanding of CAD/CAM principles and manufacturing processes
  • Background does not need to be within thermoforming or plastics, but relevant design experience is essential
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with the ability to liaise directly with customers when required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Experience within FMCG manufacturing environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production management software
