Job overview

Working alongside our client, we are seeking an Extrusion Setter join their bespoke manufacturing facility.

Company overview

  • As an Extrusion Setter, you will be responsible for setting up, adjusting and maintaining extrusion machines to ensure efficient and accurate production of plastic products.
  • This role includes preparing machines for production runs, changing tooling and dies, monitoring production quality and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Successful candidates will have prior experience in extrusion with a strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of extrusion processes.

Role responsibilities

  • Set up and operate extrusion machinery according to production specifications and safety standards.
  • Install, align and adjust extrusion dies, moulds, screws and tooling as required.
  • Perform machine changeovers for different product types or materials.
  • Monitor product quality and machine performance during runs; make necessary adjustments.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical or material issues during production.
  • Record production data, including material usage, waste and machine settings.
  • Clean, lubricate and maintain machinery and tooling.
  • Work closely with supervisors, quality control, and maintenance teams to meet production targets.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and use appropriate PPE.
  • Assist in training new team members or operators.

Qualifications/experience required

  • Prior experience in extrusion or manufacturing (3-5 years preferred)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of extrusion processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Basic math and measurement skills (use of callipers, micrometres, etc.)
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Physically fit and able to lift materials and stand for long periods of times
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime when necessary
  • Forklift certificate – desirable
