Our client, an established injection moulding manufacturer, is seeking a proactive Maintenance Engineer who is eager to take the next step in their career and develop into an Automation Engineer.

Role responsibilities
- Support the maintenance and optimisation of injection moulding machinery, robotics, and automation systems
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
- Assist with robot programming (ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa) and gain hands-on training in automation integration
- Develop knowledge of vision systems for in-line inspection, defect detection, and measurement (Cognex, Keyence, Omron)
- Work with the maintenance and engineering teams to diagnose faults, reduce downtime, and improve reliability
- Support improvement projects aimed at reducing waste, improving cycle times, and increasing OEE
- Gradually take on responsibility for automation programming, optimisation, and technical documentation as training progresses
- Collaborate with engineers and apprentices, sharing knowledge and developing skills in line with your career path

Qualifications/experience required
- Experience as a Maintenance Engineering within the injection moulding or plastics manufacturing environment
- Hands-on skills working with electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Previous exposure to automation, robotics or PLC’s would be highly desirable
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Proficient in programming and troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) would be beneficial
- Experience with working with industrial robots (ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa)
- Skilled in troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Proven track record improving cycle times, reducing waste, and increasing reliability
