Further to ongoing sustained business growth, we are working closely with one of our manufacturing partners to appoint a Design Engineer with experience in 3D CAD to be developed within tooling & product design

Company overview

  • Exciting opportunity for an ambitious Design Engineer to work closely with design, production, & commercial delivery departments to provide technical expertise with the company’s product & tooling manufacturing capabilities
  • This role will suit someone early in their design career who enjoys hands on CAD work and aspires to grow in a collaborative, engineering led environment
  • The successful Design Engineer candidate will benefit from a fully mapped out training & development plan with clear progression pathway in keeping with the company’s emphasis on developing their staff

Role responsibilities

  • As Design Engineer you will design and develop in-house products from concept to production
  • In the role of Design Engineer, you will be responsible for optimising customer-supplied designs using DFM principles
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models and 2D technical
  • Collaborate with tooling, production and quality teams to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness
  • Communicate technical recommendations clearly
  • Maintain design documentation and drawing office database
  • Take part in design reviews and improvement initiatives

Qualifications/experience required

  • HND/Degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • Experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred; training provided for similar packages)
  • Industry or placement experience in design/engineering
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and DFM principles
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and attention to detail
  • Experience and appreciation of injection moulding an advantage
  • Understanding of materials and processes for volume manufacturing
  • Awareness of CADCAM, prototyping or CNC tooling
