Further to ongoing sustained business growth, we are working closely with one of our manufacturing partners to appoint a CAD/CAM Engineer to join their dynamic team.

Company overview

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer to join a dynamic team working closely within the technical design and tooling team, responsible for producing precision components, ensuring quality and efficiency while adhering to safety standards
  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in operating CNC machinery, with a passion for machining and a keen eye for detail
  • Focus on CAM creation, optimisation of programmes and cutter selection

Role responsibilities

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications to ensure correct machining processes
  • Work to tight tolerances and inspect finished parts to meet quality control standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues to minimise downtime and maintain productivity
  • Program CNC machines using Fusion software and load using controllers such as HAAS, HURCO. Training will be provided for the Fusion software, but prior CNC programming knowledge is required
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds to optimise machining efficiency. Set clamps fixtures, and angle plates to effectively hold the parts
  • Work with various materials, including stainless steel, aluminium, hardened steels, mild steel, and engineering plastics
  • Ensure health & safety regulations and workplace procedures are always followed
  • Keep a clean and tidy work area
  • Work within a 12 strong technical design and tooling environment

Qualifications/experience required

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, primarily on CNC milling machines; experience with CNC turning is an advantage
  • Prior CAM programming experience; Fusion desirable (training provided)
  • Familiar with HAAS, HURCO, or similar machines
  • Confident in reading engineering drawings and specifications
  • Proven ability to work to tight tolerances and inspect parts accurately
  • Strong focus on health & safety and workshop standards
  • Experience in a precision engineering or tooling environment
