Working alongside our client, a leading 1st tier automotive supplier & manufacturer, we are looking for an experienced Paint Technician to join their team.
Company overview
- As a Paint Technician you will perform technical activities to the specified customer quality standard for outgoing internally produced products
- To support the Manufacturing Technical Manager in all requested activities based on business needs required within the pain facility i.e paining, paint mixing, robot gun and cap cleaning, general plant cleaning and upkeep
Role responsibilities
- To perform painting activities in line with the IATF 16949 quality standards
- To ensure that all parts are fit for purpose prior to painting
- To clean and maintain all paint robots and paint application equipment
- Identify robotic application faults with all production batches produced in series production and correct the problem immediately to minimise any losses
- Must be able to put paints on and off the systems, clean systems and change filters
- Conduct all paint mix procedures to verify all materials before using in production
- To have the ability of applying primers, basecoats and clearcoat to achieve the correct adhesion, colour, wave scan, Matt & Gloss levels and recommended dry film thicknesses
- To have good knowledge of plant control operational procedures, plant start up and shutdown procedures, including oven data paw tracing for full paint curing
- To conduct and display weekly particulate count data
- To be able to adjust brush file settings on the robots to optimize all application procedures as and when required to maintain good quality on all painted parts produced
- To conduct dyne test checks on all required flamed components
- To maintain high levels of 5s housekeeping practices at all times throughout the paint facility to maintain our high-quality expectations on all parts produced

Qualifications/experience required
- 3-5 years robotic painting experience, preferably within the paint manufacturing industry
- Ability to identify robotic application faults
- A good understanding of paint application defect attributes and corrective actions required
- A good understanding of production downtime escalation procedures
- Must have basic literacy and numeracy skills
- UK driving licence
- Willingness to undergo relevant training as and when required to further your skill base
- Be able to work as an individual and as part of a team
- High level of flexibility as and when required
- Pro-active towards the job function and willingness to learn new skills
- Be able to work well on your own initiative
- Must have a methodical and organised approach to work
