Job overview

Working alongside our client, a manufacturer of plastic and rubber caps, we are looking for a Production Support Engineer to join their team.

Company overview

  • A key member of the production team, the Production Support Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Production Manager in achievement of all operational targets
  • You will be responsible for maintaining all plant and equipment in a safe condition, including preventive maintenance of the plant and building, alongside providing new tooling through manufacture of procurement and assisting with securing accurate quotations for materials, plant and equipment
  • This is a varied and fast paced position allowing the successful candidate to be involved in a range of production operations

Role responsibilities

  • Ensure all equipment and machinery is in safe working condition
  • Produce custom tooling to order and within agreed timescale
  • Reacting to breakdowns/failures
  • Development of TPM system
  • Continual maintenance of plant and equipment
  • Maintenance of building
  • Involvement in IMS focused improvement culture
  • Effective performance management and development of direct reports
  • Training development of Engineering apprentice
  • Working as part of the Engineering and Production team to achieve corporate objectives
  • Maintaining cost effective relationships with suppliers
  • Maintain customer satisfaction through prompt and effective response to customer requests

Qualifications/experience required

  • Experience of working within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Qualified within an engineering discipline with the ability to operate engineering machinery safely (lathes, milling, welding, fabrication, hydraulics & pneumatics)
  • Experience with continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve targets under pressure and within changing environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Abrasive wheels certification
  • Ability to work using own initiative
