Job overview

Working exclusively with our client, an established injection moulding manufacturer, we are looking for a Project Engineer to support NPI projects and continued business growth.

Company overview

  • Fantastic opportunity for a skilled Project Engineer with demonstrable experience of managing NPI projects within injection moulding or other plastics manufacturing disciplines
  • This role will suit an ambitious Project Engineer looking to continue their own personal development and further their career within the plastics industry
  • The successful Project Engineer will be responsible for the introduction of new plastic injection moulded products from concept through to production integration

Role responsibilities

  • In the role of Project Engineer, you will lead NPI projects from customer handover through to production
  • As Project Engineer, you will act as the primary technical point of contact for customers during the NPI phase
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines and progress reports
  • Coordinate cross functional teams and activities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, meeting customer quality and performance requirements
  • Lead injection moulding projects from RFQ, design, material selection, tool trialling, validation and production
  • Liaise with toolmakers, material suppliers and external stakeholders
  • Review technical drawings and tooling design approvals
  • Review product designs for manufacturability
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory quality standards
  • Support customer technical discussions, trials and approvals
  • Identify opportunities for cycle time reduction, scrap reduction and process improvement
  • Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications/experience required

  • Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Polymer Engineering or related field is an advantage
  • Demonstrable experience within injection moulding or other plastics manufacturing disciplines
  • Good knowledge of injection moulding processes, tooling and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Familiarity with quality systems, PPAP, FMEA and validation processes
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
