Working alongside our client, a leading injection moulding manufacturer, we are looking for an NPI Project Engineer to join their established and expanding NPI team.

- As an NPI Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the project management of tooling (in-house & externally) through the quotation stage, sourcing, design, development and launch into the company production facility.
- The successful candidate MUST have proven project management experience along with injection moulding/plastics industry experience.

Role responsibilities
- In the role of NPI Project Engineer, you will provide new business development project support and manage product development for new projects through to series production, ensuring adherence and completion of the APQP process.
- As NPI Project Engineer, you will support design and tooling-related activities for internal cross-functional teams to ensure NPI projects are on time, in full and on budget
- Liaise with customers and third-party companies on part and tool design and development related matters
- Liaise with customers on all project-related matters, ensuring that project milestones are met and maintained
- Manage changes through the Engineering change process
- Support NPI & Operations process teams in completing detailed and effective ‘DOE’ on new product processes
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality and Logistics teams to ensure effective new product launches
- Act as a liaison between different departments, fostering effective communication and collaboration to align teams towards common project goals
- Maintain required records for your NPI activities – timing plans, trackers, status reports etc
- Provide fringe design and technical support for the Operations team as necessary
- Travel overseas and within the U.K., progressing Projects to ensure on-time and best quality delivery.
- Protect the business from risk through Design for Manufacture studies.
- Support the Process Owner in maintaining departmental procedures to satisfy IATF 16949 and ISO14001 standards.
- Actively engage and support the development of a Continuous Improvement culture by actively seeking to propose CI ideas.

Qualifications/experience required
- Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering
- Project management experience, including customer-facing activities
- Injection moulding/plastics manufacturing knowledge
- Knowledge of injection moulding and plastic welding processes
- Knowledge of polymer materials
- Experience interpreting 2D and 3D CAD
- Personable with an ability to build close relationships at all levels, including customers and suppliers
- A driving license is essential, along with being willing to travel overseas and within the UK
- Automotive programme management – Desirable
- Automotive industry and IATF16949 procedure knowledge – Desirable
- Mould tool and component design - Desirable
