Working alongside our client, an established global injection moulding manufacturer, we are looking for an experienced NPI Process Engineer to join their team to support continued business growth.
Role responsibilities
Remit:
- This position will suit an experienced Mould Process Engineer with proven experience in new mould tooling development, troubleshooting and fault diagnosis
- Candidates MUST HAVE a minimum of 5 years demonstrable experience within a technical injection moulding environment

Role:
- As NPI Process Engineer you will provide moulding expertise from RFQ stage, leading all trial and process development activities until successful hand over to manufacturing sites
- In the role of NPI Process Engineer you will be responsible for championing scientific moulding best practice across the group, ensuring fully optimized processes that meet and exceed operational efficiency, scrap, cycle time and profitability targets
- Collaboration with Tooling Engineers on new tool designs to ensure that mould processing requirements are considered and incorporated at tool design (GA) stage
- Providing input and practical guidance when reviewing Moldflow simulation results ahead of new tool manufacture
- Conducting injection moulding optimisation studies using scientific moulding techniques to drive robust process development, meeting defined cost and quality targets
- Attending offsite tool trials (both UK and overseas travel as required) with full accountability for setting and tracking of trial objectives
- Creating and maintaining detailed process development documentation, to agreed company standards and formats
- Ensuring successful integration with associated in line processes, related assembly equipment and EOAT
- Providing expert injection moulding advice during the development of new products or engineering changes
- Liaise and communicate with cross functional departments, customers, suppliers and service providers as required to fulfil the needs of the role
Qualifications/experience required
- A minimum of 5+ years in a technical injection moulding environment
- Strong proven experience in new injection mould tool development, troubleshooting and fault diagnosis
- Experience of working with highly technical and cosmetic automotive components
- Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to self-manage and work well in a fast paced collaborative team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel frequently during certain project phases, as required, within UK and EU and Asia
- A working knowledge of commodity and engineering polymers
- Previous experience of working within a high-volume manufacturing environment with associated assembly, joining and painting processes a distinct advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to present data effectively, using it to drive decisions within agreed deadlines
- Industry recognised professional moulding accreditation is desirable
- Experience of scientific moulding and Design of Experiments would be advantageous
- Robot programming experience an advantage
- Knowledge and understanding of measurement methods, quality tools and basic statistical concepts
