We are looking to recruit an experienced Injection Moulding Specialist who will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in injection moulding processes, supporting the successful introduction and transfer of moulding technologies across our global manufacturing sites, and providing technical expertise, training, and process optimisation to ensure high standards of quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
This position will be joining our thriving UK medical device manufacturing company to work within our Group Engineering Department, supporting operations across our global manufacturing sites in the UK, China, USA, and Malaysia.
The successful candidate will be able to drive continuous improvement initiatives within injection moulding operations while supporting the transfer, validation, and implementation of new moulds, machines, and processes across our global manufacturing sites. They will provide technical guidance, coaching, and hands-on training to engineering and production teams, working collaboratively with cross-functional departments to optimise manufacturing performance and ensure compliance with medical device quality and regulatory standards.

Role responsibilities
Training
- To provide optimisation training and coaching to Injection Moulding staff with a specific focus on utilising the Optimisation Document (OpDoc).
- To provide hands-on practical training exercises in support of setter training and development.
- Work with production setters and engineers, training them in new and transferred equipment across sites.
Injection Moulding Process Engineering
- To contribute to the Group Injection Process Validation teams through the activities of process setup and validation, including all aspects of qualification - IQ, OQ, PQ, in conjunction with the Validation Teams – in accordance with the site Master Validation plan.
- Responsible for all (non-Lithuanian) Injection Moulding Process Validation trials and adherence to protocol
- To ensure that all processing procedures are in place and effective for new, existing and change projects for injection moulding
- To interrogate new GA’s to enable the acceptance of all new Mould Tools into production via the Production Validation team trials prior to handover from the tooling department on behalf of the Manufacturing and Technical Departments where applicable
- To participate in production tool trials where required, and ensure accurate and clear weekly reporting for the group and trials completed
- To contribute knowledge on state-of-the-art technologies that could improve our production development. T
- To transfer tooling and machines across sites and into production.
Technical
- Responsibility for the correct specification of all UK and CN Injection Moulding Machines
- Contribute to other site machine specification requirements
- Conduct Moldflow analysis where appropriate, design for manufacture considerations and GA interrogation/approval during the design stages to enable control and input to the end result (Tool acceptance) and to gain meaningful production capabilities as required.
- To liaise with tool room and design project leaders as required on tooling modifications and new projects, to ensure a multipoint analysis of tooling plan.
- To be involved with projects as per Technical Department's project list requirements
- To review new tool GAs prior to cutting metal, and issue review and comments
- To provide technical advice on moulding issues to the tool designers, tool room and group-wide process engineers
- To provide technical advice on moulding quality issues
- To attend tool trials across the group sites and at external suppliers as required for development projects
Workplace/Location
- UK office-based, including UK manufacturing site
- All external sites with Injection Moulding - CN, MY & USA
- Attendance at the LT site primarily for transfer projects

Qualifications/experience required
Essential Experience/Qualifications
- Extensive experience in injection moulding process optimisation
- Injection Moulding Machine Specification
- Knowledge and understanding of Thermoplastic materials, Process Optimisation, Injection Mould tooling, DFM, FMEA, Validation
Desirable Experience/Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering or equivalent level qualification
- Mould tool manufacturing
- Master Moulder
- Experience in Medical device manufacturing
- Experience in Blow moulding and Extrusion
- Mould Flow Analysis
