Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, highly successful business in a pivotal procurement role. You’ll play a key part in securing feedstock materials for the company’s high-quality virgin and recycled polymer solutions, driving growth through cost-effectively sourcing materials to facilitate commercially attractive sales.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, the role will be responsible for maintaining quality compliance of feedstock materials, whilst nurturing and growing supplier relationships from initial engagement to ongoing account management, ensuring timely delivery for production requirements.

The role will be primarily office-based, enabling close liaison and supervision of the procurement team, and include UK travel to supplier sites as required.

Role responsibilities

  • Managing and growing existing supplier accounts while seeking out new supplier opportunities to maintain a commercially competitive supply.
  • Responding to real-time dynamic materials costing requirements to achieve and exceed commercial and contribution targets
  • Analyse market trends and share insights with internal stakeholders
  • Monitor supplier capacity to ensure it exceeds current and future production demand
  • To trade materials in excess of production requirements

Qualifications/experience required

  • A proven procurement track record, ideally with 5 years of plastics sector experience
  • Strong planning, time management and leadership skills
  • Self-starter mentality - able to work solo or rally a successful team
  • Outstanding communication, networking & negotiation skills
  • Ability to listen, understand and collaborate with technical teams to deliver tailored, commercially sound solutions
  • Experience in project and strategic account management
  • Comfort working across both high-level strategy and ground-level execution
  • Solid cost analysis, budgeting and forecasting capabilities
