We are looking for a Commercial Manager to lead our busy Commercial Team, which includes purchase of polymers as well as sales of compounds.

Role responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Generating and managing sustainable and profitable sales, particularly targeting customers where a long-term mutually advantageous partnership exists or can be developed
  • Proactively managing a Commercial Team of six to deliver sales, against budget to target sectors
  • Develop and continually improve all aspects of the company and group sales processes, including a sales and purchase pipeline in detail for a rolling 12 months
  • Produce a sales strategy and plan for group, including targets and, on approval from the Managing Director, to implement the plan in line with the overall business needs
  • Ensure feedstocks and additives of the right quality are purchased at the most advantageous price
  • Identify opportunities for group product sales
  • Keep up to date and report on legislation, market trends, or other intelligence that may affect the business
  • Develop and nurture key relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Recognise and exploit trading opportunities
  • Manage the Commercial Team in the most effective manner by the appropriate delegation of authority
  • To create training plans for the Sales Executives and Internal Sales Administrators, and to conduct regular appraisals in line with company policy

Qualifications/experience required

Our preferred candidate will have an understanding of polymers and technical selling, be a highly organised and driven self-starter, with a demonstrable record of delivery in a similar role, where the building and maintaining of strong, positive relationships with customers is a central focus. This individual will also have experience of exploring new markets and experience of working within a fast-paced, results-driven commercial environment.
